The banners that Space Marines boast are each masterworks crafted by the hands of the most skilled artisans – or even the Space Marines themselves – and blessed in long, sombre rituals. Some are made to commemorate legendary battles, or celebrate the heroics of the Chapter’s battle-brothers. Others represent the Chapter as a whole, the companies, or certain bodies such as the Apothecarion or Armoury. They are richly decorated, and each symbol, icon, word, name and embellishment represents something of deep significance to the Chapter and its warriors.

The Ultramarines of the 2nd Company bear their former Legionary number and a stylised Imperial Aquila upon their company banner. 

These symbols of Imperial power sit atop their Chapter emblem which surrounds a skull wreathed in the laurels of victory, and these prestigious sigils mark legendary deeds in the awe-inspiring history of the Ultramarines through the ages. Below these noble marks, an oath of eternal fealty to Ultramar is proudly inscribed alongside a scroll denoting battle honours across the galaxy -  an illustrious list that grows ever longer as the Chapter battles mankind's myriad enemies over the millennia.
